Russian tourist who ‘tried to rape a cow’ is gored by the animal and has to be rescued by stunned Thai police

A disturbing incident involving a foreign tourist and a farm animal has drawn attention in southern Thailand, raising questions about behavior, mental health, and animal safety.

The incident happened in Surat Thani province during the late afternoon. Local residents noticed a foreign man acting strangely in a field near their homes. He was completely naked and moving between cattle tied near a wooden fence.

Alarmed by what they saw, villagers contacted the police before the situation escalated.

Police and paramedics arrived at the scene and carried the Russian away on a stretcher

The man was later identified as 26-year-old Russian tourist Evgenii Kuvshinov. Witnesses said he first approached a male bull and then moved toward a female cow that was restrained and unable to escape.

His actions appeared aggressive and unnatural, causing concern among those watching from a distance.

Soon after, the cow reacted. Unable to flee, the animal defended itself. It knocked the man to the ground and injured him using its horns. Locals then heard him screaming for help. Instead of intervening directly, they waited nearby until police arrived, fearing further danger.

Evgenii Kuvshinov, 26, is said to have stripped off and sidled over to a male bull before turning his attention to a female tied to a wooden fence in a field in Surat Thani, southern Thailand , yesterday afternoon

When officers and paramedics reached the scene, they found the man lying injured and still unclothed. He had wounds to his lower body and abrasions across his skin. Emergency workers placed him on a stretcher and transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities later said cannabis was found inside his car. There was no smell of alcohol on his breath. Police noted that he was speaking incoherently and appeared mentally unstable. His passport was also found torn.

Medical staff reportedly refused to admit him due to his aggressive and erratic behavior. He was later detained at a local police station.

Police stressed that while witnesses strongly suspected sexual intent toward the animal, the investigation could not confirm it as fact. No physical evidence was found to prove sexual assault.

Officers described the situation as an alleged attempt based on behavior and circumstance, not confirmed criminal action.

The cow involved was not injured. Officials described the animal’s response as defensive. Being tied to a fence left it vulnerable and unable to escape. Experts note that farm animals often react violently when they feel threatened, especially when restrained.

The case has attracted wide attention online, with many headlines focusing on shock rather than facts. Police have urged the public to avoid speculation while the investigation continues.

Tourist police and immigration officials are now involved, and deportation remains a possible outcome.

He was taken to the Bannaderm Hospital to be treated for wounds on his bottom and abrasions all over his body.

Beyond the headlines, the incident highlights a serious issue. Animals cannot consent. They also cannot report abuse. When humans act irresponsibly, animals often pay the price. In this case, the cow survived by defending itself.

Authorities continue to investigate the matter. For now, the case stands as a reminder that reckless behavior, substance use, and untreated mental health issues can quickly turn into public safety concerns.

It also reinforces the need for stronger awareness and protection for animals who cannot protect themselves from human harm.
